Located in Laoshan District, Qingdao, Zhangcunhe Area is a key inefficient area identified by Qingdao City, and is also the "main battlefield" of Qingdao City's urban renewal and urban construction. The planning and design of Zhangcunhe Area is the key to the future transformation of Qingdao, and the key to making Laoshan District a modern international demonstration window.

In the regional pattern, the plan pays attention to its special geographical location between the mountain, sea and city, distinguishes itself from the traditional business-type space, and introduces innovative development paths in terms of objectives, connotations, spatial presentations and implementation paths, in order to create an iteratively upgraded innovative centre of the future.

In terms of spatial programme, a cross structure connecting landscape and nature is built. The north-south direction creates a central integrated science and innovation axis, relying on the triple courtyard space to connect the two sides of the river, presenting an interactive living room of the city that integrates the city and the water, and connects the mountains and the water. In the east-west direction, the "Zhangchuan Shortcut", a newly evolved riverfront experience path with diversified sharing and functions, runs through the area to achieve the connection of a series of neighbourhood nodes. As a whole, it brings together the new concepts of nature, culture and operation, and integrates the new scenes of interactive innovation, waterfront and humanities, shaping a vibrant and shared city of the new era - the hub of the peninsula and the valley of interactive cities.
