Shajing Ancient Market is one of the largest historical landscape areas in Shenzhen with the earliest immigrant legends, the earliest ground structures preserved in Shenzhen, and the most complete reflection of the continuous history created by the people of Shenzhen over the past 2,500 years, and it has completely preserved the characteristic historical spatial pattern of "river street cascading marketplace, village marketplace combined, seven workshops side by side, and comb-type layout".

Following the bottom line delineated in the historic preservation plan, we have combed through and reproduced the historical pattern of the ancient market and implanted the eighth square through chronological slicing preservation, revitalising the eight squares of the ancient market into a museum on the move. Extending from Shajing Ancient Market to Shajing Main Street area, we continue the structure of "one street and one chung" to create a double integration belt of Shajing Road and Longjin chung, with functional integration, spatial linkage, and coordinated landscape, to build a new city of the Ancient Market, where the traditional culture and the modern function are symbiotic.

Through the innovative approach of "key renewal unit + revitalisation and improvement of historical landscape area", the goal of protecting and revitalising the historical landscape area of Shajing Ancient Market and the integration of old villages and new towns will be achieved. In the future, the key urban regeneration unit of Shajing Street will become a window of public vitality for the global ocean centre city with marine culture as its core.
